Visualia Festival celebrated UNESCO International Light Day with surprise light installations in Pula’s Amphitheater.
Renowned Finnish light artist Kari Kola illuminated the ancient Colosseum with a stunning installation titled “Impact with Light” for one night. This event aimed to highlight the importance of arts and culture and celebrate both UNESCO International Day of Light and the UN International Day of Living Together in Peace.
Kola, known for his large-scale light art, has previously illuminated Stonehenge and the Connemara Mountains. “Impact with Light” emphasized art’s role in promoting peace and well-being. Kola stated, “Creating something beautiful gives me hope for positive change. It’s a reminder of what we can achieve.”
The Pula Arena, a well-preserved Roman amphitheater, served as a significant backdrop for Kola’s work, underscoring the universal power of light. This collaborative effort between Kari Kola, SGM Light, Visualia Festival, and the Archaeological Museum of Istria supported both UNESCO and UN initiatives.
