Oyster Festival will take place from March 19 to 23, 2025 in Ston, Mali Ston and Brijesta.

Oyster Festival is a not-to-be-missed event for all foodies, wine lovers, culture and nature lovers who are looking for an authentic experience. This centuries-old tradition is dedicated to the exceptional quality of the Mali Ston oyster, the hard work of numerous generations of shellfish farmers, and the role it plays in the lifestyle and economy of this area. It is associated with the feast of St. Joseph (March 19), because it is believed that oysters are the fullest and tastiest then. It has not been historically established when exactly this tradition started, but the assumption is that it is a tradition from the time of the Dubrovnik Republic.

Mali Ston oysters are considered one of the best seafood in the world, and they symbolize the history, culture and unique natural characteristics of the Mali Ston Bay. In 2020 they obtained the European Union Protected Designation of Origin mark. In addition to gastronomic delights, this year’s Oyster Festival brings a rich program including lectures, workshops, quizzes, guided tours, trips to farms, children’s workshops and numerous other activities.
