21.11.2023 – 30.06.2024 Dubrovnik Ethnographic Museum
The exhibition presents a rich and unknown part of the holdings with numerous and unique examples of traditional clothing and handicrafts from Croatia and Southeast Europe, which places the Ethnographic Museum “alongside” many european museums that preserve cultural heritage items in their holdings and collections.
At the exhibition are presented museum objects from the field of traditional textile economy, handicrafts and crafts, made of wood, as well as some home textiles and bags from continental Croatia and Southeastern Europe.
The exhibition also presents unique examples of traditional clothing from the areas of northwestern and central Croatia, Slavonia and Baranja and the hinterland of northern Dalmatia, which were shaped under the influence of the Pannonian and Dinaric cultural areas in the period from the second half of the 19th to the first half of the 20th century and are part of Collection of national costumes and embroideries of Croatia. There is also ethnographic material on display, which, due to its origin and area of distribution, is classified as the traditional clothing of Southeast Europe from the beginning of the 19th century to the first decades of the 20th century, which shows Dinaric and Alla Turca influences. There are total 270 objects shown on this exhibition.
